- Abstract
The article provides research on the compliance of medical interns with work-hour limits that were implemented by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Included in the system are limits on consecutive hours worked, hours worked in a week, and number of days worked per week. The limits were implemented in an effort to limit the risk of serious medical errors in patients and motor vehicle crashes caused by interns due to sleep deprivation. The study reports on the number of violations to the requirements reported among interns.
