- Authors
MacReady, Norra; McEvoy, Joseph; Glazer, William
- Abstract
The article reviews several research on early and effective treatment of schizophrenia. S. Leucht and colleagues conducted a meta-analysis that found that overall and positive symptom reduction during the first 2 weeks was greater than that during the next 2 weeks. In a research analyzed by O. Agid and colleagues, Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale and Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale scores dropped by roughly 20 percent within 2 weeks, which means that there is an 80 percent likelihood the patient will meet more stringent criterion for response.
