- Abstract
The article discusses the depiction of racial politics within the work of the African American painter and abolitionist Robert Douglass Jr. from 1833 through 1846. An overview of Douglass' political activity in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, including in regard to his portraits of American abolitionists and his support for the Philadelphia Female Anti-Slavery Society, is provided.
