- Title
New Insights Into the Role of Antibiotic Use in Infancy and the Upper Airway Microbiome in Childhood Asthma Development.
- Authors
Rosas-Salazar, Christian; Hartert, Tina V
- Abstract
The authors discuss a study published within the issue which examined the link of antibiotic use in infancy with childhood asthma and assessed whether the upper airway microbiome is a mediator of this association. Topics include a shared genetic susceptibility between the risk of acute respiratory infections (ARIs) and the use of antibiotics in infancy and reason that the true proportion of the total effect explained by changes in the development of the upper airway microbiome could be higher.
