- Abstract
The article presents a study which examines the roles of proapoptotic protein Bim and channel-formers Bak and Bax in the regulation of osteoblast survival to better understand the response of osteoblasts to growth factors. Researchers have subjected MBA-15.4 murine osteoblasts and primary human bone marrow stromal cells (hBMSCs) to growth factor depletion by serum starvation. Results reveal that Bim, Bak and Bam actively mediate osteoblast apoptosis by trophic factor withdrawal.
