- Title
FABLES AND FRAMES: THE POETICS AND POLITICS OF ANIMAL FABLES IN HESIOD, ARCHILOCHUS, AND THE AESOPICA.
- Authors
Steiner, Deborah
- Abstract
Literary criticism focusing on animal fables in the work "Aesopica," as well as in the works of Hesiod and Archilochus, are presented. Explorations of the archaic fables are presented, as well as the use of animal protagonists and structure. The author argues that the human-like traits and characteristics of animals in these works suggest the failure of human discourse and the inability of men to regulate their communal affairs.
