- Abstract
A criticism is provided of the poem "The Windhover" by 19th century English poet Gerard Manley Hopkins. Particular focus is given to the depiction of fire within the poem, including wildfires, embers from fire and the Christian aspects of fire. The portrayal of the symbolic aspects of birds in the poem is discussed.
