- Abstract
The article reports on a study whether pre-treatment with polyhydroxy C60 (fullerenol) can attenuate neutrophilic lung inflammation induced by quartz. It states that inflammation is vital to eliminate pathogens and promote repair if injured tissue. The study concludes that quartz-induced neutrophilic inflammation in the lungs can be attenuated by administration of the water-soluble polyhydroxy fullerene derivative which may be relevant to lung diseases associated with neutrophilic inflammation.
