- Abstract
The article reports that emphysema is a component of the spectrum of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and that new approaches, especially with early disease, are required to address the profound health burden of this complex heterogeneous disease. Topics include considered this is relevant to lung cancer screening as recent publications report that the computed tomography scans obtained for LCS also frequently detect emphysema.
