- Abstract
The article presents a comparison of the effects of chemical anesthesia and electroanesthesia on plasma cortisol levels in the Japanese eel Anguilla japonica. Chemical anesthetics are agents used in fishery to immobilize fishes for handling. It is used for many fish species. On the other hand, electric anesthesia is mainly used for field research. In the article, eels were used as specimens for comparing chemical anesthesia and electroanesthesia. Cortisol levels are used as the basis in the comparison.
