- Abstract
The article focuses on a research that was conducted to investigate the association of initiation of anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) therapy with increased herpes zoster risk. It compared herpes zoster incidence between new anti-TNF users and patients initiating nonbiologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs. It analyzed 33,324 new users of anti-TNF therapy and identified 310 herpes zoster cases. The findings of the research indicated that there was no risk of herpes zoster in those who initiated anti-TNF therapies.
