- Abstract
In the article, the author discusses the efforts by the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) to develop clinical practice guidelines (CPG) that are used to determine best practices toward evidence-based medicine. Also cited are his development of a process to write standards for respiratory therapy in 1989, the other areas where CPGs are created like aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, and diagnostics, and the inclusion of the AARC CPGs in the National Guidelines Clearinghouse.
