- Title
A Sigh of Relief for ARDS?
- Authors
George, Philip; Lapinsky, Stephen E.
- Abstract
The authors reflect on the significance and limitations of the study about the management of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in patients with acute lung injury (ALI) conducted by Michel Badet. The authors stress the Badet utilized methods that are easy to perform at the bedside such as the simple positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP). They state that Badet failed to address the reasons for the improved oxygenation and static compliance of the respiratory system.
