- Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated hydroxyapatite (HAp)/polymer composites for bone substitute application. The study prepared a novel intercalated nanocomposite of gelatin and lamellar HAp using solution intercalation process. Results from the x-ray diffraction conducted showed that the basal spacing of HAp lamellas enlarged by 3.0 nanometers (nm) from 3.1 to 6.1 nm, indicating the intercalation of the gelatin molecules into the gallery of lamellar HAp.
