- Abstract
This essay discusses the genre of comedy and its connections with poetry. The author discusses the methods and actions of comics and the role of comedians in addressing controversial topics such as sex and politics. He describes a reading at the Leipzig Book Fair in Leipzig, Germany in 2010 of several of his poems including "Roses." Other topics include German humor, political humor, and the anniversary of the birthday of German composer Johann Sebastian Bach.
