- Abstract
Spatial-temporal notions are a fundamental objective in the teaching of Social Sciences, with important bodily and motor implications for their learning in Early Childhood Education. Many studies deal with the physical and motor dimensions in traditional areas such as Physical Education, however, in the review of existing knowledge, there are hardly any works that study these dimensions in the training of Social Science Didactics teachers. The aim of this study is to find out to what extent the teaching guides selected for the subjects in the Social Sciences Didactics Area of the Early Childhood Education Degree include in their headings content relating to teacher training in motor skills and the body involved in the teaching of Social Sciences in Early Childhood Education. For this purpose, a case study model with a mixed quantitative-qualitative methodology is used. A phased procedure is followed and the corpus management and text analysis software, Sketch Engine, is used. The results report the scarce presence of the corporal and motor dimensions in teacher training in all the dimensions of analysis of the teaching guides, which shows the lack of interest in the corporal sphere in the initial training of teachers of Didactics of Social Sciences. In conclusion, we point out the persistence in the university teaching curriculum of traditional conceptions based on the Cartesian perspective of the mind-body separation.
