- Abstract
The article presents a study on how to interpret predialysis plasma sodium level in hemodialysis (HD) patients. Predialysis plasma sodium is reflecting the interplay between interdialytic sodium, potassium and water intake and intradialytic sodium, potassium and water removal (convective and diffusive). It also reviews the stability of plasma sodium and the reliability of its measurement related to the assessment of the dialysate-to-plasma gradient and its manipulation in HD patient.
