- Abstract
The article discusses the incidence of tuberculosis (TB) in the Southeast Asia region of the World Health Organization (WHO). The article notes the economic burden of the disease, TB associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, and drug-resistant TB. WHO's so-called Stop TB Strategy is noted as is the existent of a comprehensive intervention program for people infected with TB and HIV. National programs are said to be working with public and private health-care providers to identify and treat people with TB who otherwise contribute to TB transmission.
