- Title
On Bandwagons, Tyranny, and Common Sense.
- Authors
Clarke, Mark A.
- Abstract
The article presents the author's opinion regarding the difference between the methodological trend and a bandwagon in second language English teaching. According to the author bandwagons exercise subtle control over professional debates and practices. The author believes that each era has brought with it changes in philosophical orientation and corresponding recommendations for teaching techniques and use of materials. However these are merely shifts in professional perspective, they are healthy interactions of different, evolving, points of view.
