- Abstract
This article discusses the evolution of world literature studies and the different approaches taken in conceptualizing and practicing this field. It highlights two trends: the descriptive mapping of literatures across the world to challenge cultural hegemonies, and the use of world literature as a means to promote regional/national/local literature. The article also emphasizes the importance of language in world literature, exploring its role in discourse, cultural interaction, and conflicts. The volume concludes with a discussion on the complexities and relevance of world literature, emphasizing the need for ongoing exploration and experimentation in this field.
