- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the effect of infections on fat mass among middle-aged men in Spain. The serum of subjects were tested for specific immunoglobulin G (IgG) class antibodies against infections including herpes simplex virus (HSV)-1 using quantitative in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs). There was no significant connections between the HSV-1 titer, fat mass and percentage fat mass. Subjects with increased fat mass are more susceptible to developing infections.
