- Abstract
This document discusses the prognostic value of ferritin in patients with multiple myeloma (MM) who have undergone autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). The authors collected data from 3446 MM patients who received ASCT therapy and had serum ferritin testing. They found that high serum ferritin levels were associated with a poorer prognosis in MM patients, regardless of gender, race, or age. Additionally, they observed that ferritin had a significant impact on the prognosis of patients in different MM staging systems, such as the International Staging System (ISS) and the Revised International Staging System (R-ISS). The authors conclude that ferritin is an independent risk factor for MM patients' overall survival and progression-free survival.
