- Title
Does the MMR vaccine raise the risk of ITP?
- Authors
Burke, Michael G.
- Abstract
The article discusses research being done on the association of the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine with an increased risk of immune thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP). It references a study by E. K. France and colleagues published in a 2008 issue of the journal "Pediatrics." Using data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the researchers examined MMR-vaccinated children from 1 to 18 years of age. Key findings suggest that three of every four cases of ITP in the second year of life were associated with MMR vaccination.
