- Abstract
Dear Sirs, The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has influenced psychological and physical health of the general population [[1]] with chronic patients mostly suffering for public health-care reconfiguration [[2]]. We aimed at evaluating the impact of this event on a cohort of Italian amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients and caregivers. Although the long-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is yet to be determined, our study suggests that families with ALS patients, mostly if suffering also form cognitive/behavioural impairment, have higher level of anxiety and feeling of loneliness, and are particularly vulnerable to distress.
