- Abstract
This article presents a symposium on rural development strategies. Purpose of this article is to draw attention, among scholars and within the policymaking community, to rural development strategies that have demonstrated effectiveness. Another purpose of the symposium is to make an assessment of the states of research on rural development strategies. Development of a community or region is usually defined in terms of progress made toward achieving some goal.
