- Title
Insulin: a sweet deal for human baroreflex function.
- Authors
Brooks, Virginia L.
- Abstract
The author discusses a study which examined the effect of insulin on the baroreflex in humans, published in previous issue. The study demonstrated a link between insulin sensitivity and baroreflex gain. The author emphasizes the relevance of the study findings to the clinical management of orthostatic hypotension and peripartum hemorrhage. She concludes that brain insulin could help in maintaining normal human baroreflex function.
