- Abstract
The article discusses the Thunderstorm Electrification and Lightning Experiment (TELEX) conducted by researchers and students from federal and university organizations in May-June 2003 and 2004 in central Oklahoma. The field experiment provides a comprehensive datasets needed to investigate the relationships of lightning and storm electrification to the microphysics, winds, thermodynamics and structure of storms. Furthermore, lightning mapping array, polarimetric Doppler radars, mobile Doppler radars, balloon-borne electric-field meters and radiosondes were used to measure lightning and other electrical properties. Further discussion of the results of the research is also provided.
