- Abstract
The article describes the characteristics, incidence, and prevalence of ovarian metastases (OM) among 4,566 women with colorectal cancer in Stockholm County, Sweden between 1995 and 2006 in order to better ascertain the role of prophylactic oophorectomy in colorectal cancer patients. The study found that ovarian metastases are more common among women with colonic cancer than in those with rectal cancer and that survival rates for those with OM are low among colonic cancer patients.
