- Abstract
The article discusses the study which examines the free and conjugated estrogen exports from agricultural runoffs in fields fertilized with poultry litter. It indicates that the concentrations of estrogen from the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) are much higher than the quantification using liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) which indicate cross-reactivity with organic compounds. The study implies that estrogen concentrations associated with pelletized litter are much lower than the ones from the raw litter.
