- Abstract
This article reports a clinical case of a patient with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and how the use of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) was crucial in guiding the therapeutic plan. The patient, a 33-year-old woman, presented balance alterations, was using a wheelchair, and had difficulties in daily activities. Based on the kinetic-functional diagnosis, short-term SMART objectives were established, such as improving the quality of sitting/standing up and gaining confidence in standing without support. After six physiotherapy sessions, significant improvements were observed in the patient's movement quality and balance. The study concludes that the ICF model is essential for the construction of the therapeutic plan and allows for the identification of improvements in the performance of activities and participation of patients with MS.
