- Abstract
Despite advances in cervical cancer screening and human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccines, cervical cancer remains a global health burden. The standard treatment of cervical cancer includes surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Radiotherapy (RT) is the primary treatment for advancedstage disease. However, due to radioresistance, most patients in the advanced stage have an adverse outcome. Recent studies have shown that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) participate in the regulation of cancer radiosensitivity by regulating DNA damage repair, apoptosis, cancer stem cells (CSCs), and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). In this review, we summarize the molecular mechanisms of long noncoding RNAs in cervical cancer and radiosensitivity, hoping to provide a theoretical basis and a new molecular target for the cervical cancer RT in the clinic.
