Encouraging Collaboration in Rural America.
- Authors
Sears, David W.; Lovan, W. Robert
- Abstract
This article is about collaboration in the rural communities of the United States. The authors suggest that rural areas remain a critical foundation of the country's economy and culture. A report from the 1980s by the National Governors Association led leaders to establish the United States Department of Agriculture's National Rural Development Partnership. State Rural Development Councils are also discussed. They bring together federal agencies and state government agencies and include representatives of local and tribal governments, as well as business and nonprofit organizations.
