- Abstract
Compared to conventional welding technique, plasma arc welding (PAW) is known without spatter and fume. Owing to the characteristic of high welding quality, PAW becomes more and more attractive in welding industry. In order to achieve stable welding for a long time, it is essential to employ an automatic control during welding process. Welding quality in PAW is considered depending on the performance of tracking results and maintenance of keyhole that an image processing method for automatic tracking of weld line has been developed under monitoring of keyhole. This method can help welding engineers to make a visible automatic control instead of human sight to teach plasma torch on condition that plasma electrode hides in the torch. As a consequence, successful tracking has been achieved in welding results that has well improved the efficiency of welding work and effectively ensure the welding quality.
