- Authors
Marshall, Jeffrey
- Abstract
This article reports on the California venture capital (VC) environment and the validity of its reputation for investing in early stage firms, new executive teams and unproven technologies. Comparison to the VC industry in New York and Massachusetts show West Coast entrepreneurs are less risk adverse, and examples such as Rustic Canyon Partners in Santa Monica, California are contrasted with Summit Partners in Boston, Massachusetts are given. Key areas of investment include Internet/media convergence, green technology, and wireless and wireline broadband.
