- Abstract
The article presents a medical case of an 18-year old woman diagnosed with atresia or agenesis of the portal vein after investigated to have chronic diarrhea. The patient had a mass in the right iliac fosa and her blood tests revealed iron deficiency anemia. Using a contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan with reformatted images, it is showed that the mass was attached to the left lobe of the liver and that a vein within the stalk drained into the left hepatic vein.
