- Abstract
Introducción: La enfermedad de Jarabe de Arce es una aminoacidopatía caracterizada por un aumento de la concentración de leucina, isoleucina y valina en los fluidos corporales causando afectación neurológica. Presentamos el caso clínico de un niño de 6 meses de edad que padece enfermedad de Jarabe de Arce e ingreso en el H Infantil del HUVR por descompensación metabólica. Objetivo: Enseñar a la familia sobre la enfermedad y los cuidados que el niño necesita para prevenir complicaciones derivadas de una alimentación inadecuada. Metodología: A su ingreso se realizó la valoración integral incluyendo a la familia y se identificó como diagnóstico enfermero principal dirigido a los padres: Conocimientos deficientes: proceso de enfermedad y dieta prescrita. Se estableció un plan de cuidados incluyendo como Criterios de resultados NOC: Conocimiento: proceso de la enfermedad y Conocimiento: dieta; como Intervenciones NIC: Enseñanza: proceso de la enfermedad y Enseñanza: dieta prescrita. Resultados: Actividades: se evaluó el nivel actual de conocimientos sobre la enfermedad y la dieta prescrita, se explicó el propósito de la dieta, se instruyó acerca de las comidas permitidas y prohibidas y se reforzó la información suministrada por los otros miembros del equipo de cuidados. Indicadores NOC según Escala Líkert: Descripción del proceso de la enfermedad (evolucionó de 1 a 3). Descripción de las precauciones para evitar complicaciones (evolucionó de 1 a 4). Descripción de la dieta recomendada (evolucionó de 1 a 4). Descripción de las ventajas de seguir la dieta recomendada (evolucionaron de 1 a 4). Conclusiones: La evolución de los indicadores de la NOC nos ha permitido conocer que las actividades realizadas favorecieron un aumento de los conocimientos de la madre sobre el proceso de la enfermedad y el manejo de la alimentación del niño, garantizando así una continuidad de los cuidados en su domicilio. Esto indica que al establecer un plan de cuidados dirigido a un paciente pediátrico, es necesario incluir a su familia.
