- Title
Sovereign Silences and the Voice of War in the American Conflict over Slavery.
- Authors
HOLLAND, DAVID F.
- Abstract
An essay about the similarities between constitutional and scriptural reasoning and the application of constitutional change concepts in the U.S. religious history is presented. The author argues that God's providential involvement in the destiny of the U.S. could be linked with the application of the sacred Scripture. He offers an analysis of the relationship between proslavery and abolitionist disputants, which led to an altered perspective on Civil War as a moment of divine intervention.
