- Abstract
The author reflects on the use of F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) to study the living brain in humans. It states that the use of FDG PET in dementia is used clinically worldwide. The author provides an overview on the use of FDG as a biomolecular tracer. It also highlights the importance of astrocytes in glucose metabolism and regulation.
