- Abstract
Background. Aim of the functional motor training is decreasing of injury risk. The purpose of the study was functional evaluation of people training weightlifting. Material and methods. Totally 102 participants (53 men and 49 women) practicing weightlifting took part in the examination. A study group consisted 69 Polish National Team competitors and further 33 persons with lower level of advancement. Weightlifters represented all weight categories and testing time was during high intensity period of training. Participants fill the author's questionnaire form. For the functional evaluation, Functional Movement Screening Test was used. Results. Average result of the FMS test for the weightlifters was 18,08 points, what suggest that studied group is not highly exposed for injuries due to functional defects. A correlation between years of practice and average number of FMS score has been detected (r=0,48 ; p<0.05). Higher sport level of competitors was also a determining factor of better functional level of weightlifters (p<0.05). Conclusions. There is a strong correlation between sports level and high functional evaluation. Profitable effects of exercises used in weightlifters training motivate to applied them to general fitness training as a part of injury prevention.
