- Abstract
This study aimed to develop a comprehension monitoring test at the 3rd grade level of elementary school. For this reason, the research was designed and conducted as a test development study. During the development process of the test, writing test items, conducting pilot applications, item analysis, validity and reliability studies were followed as steps. The sample of the research consisted of seven 3rd grade classes (N= 204) of two public schools in Nazilli district of Aydın province. The comprehension monitoring test was used as a data collection tool in the study. This test consists of a total of 12 items (texts), including four consistent, five inconsistent and three text with missing information. The data obtained in the study was first entered into the Microsoft Excel program. Then, the data was transferred to IBM SPSS program. Item and reliability analyses were performed on the data obtained. As a result of the calculations and reliability analyses regarding item difficulty and discrimination indexes, four items were removed from the test and the test was given its final form. The comprehension monitoring test, which was a reliable and valid test, can evaluate cognitive components related to comprehension skills at the elementary school level in a more qualified way.
