- Abstract
Congenital portosystemic fistulas (CPF) are rare congenital malformations characterized by abnormal vascular communications between the portal system and the caval system. This case series discusses four patients who were diagnosed with CPF during the early third trimester through prenatal ultrasound. Three of the cases were associated with intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR), and one case had bilateral clubfoot. The fetuses underwent follow-up and fetal cardiac ultrasound, and after birth, all newborns showed good adaptation to extrauterine life and remained asymptomatic. Spontaneous closure of the fistulas occurred without surgical intervention, and most CPF cases have a favorable outcome and remain asymptomatic in childhood.
