- Title
Substance Use Disorder and HIV/AIDS: Addressing Dual Crises.
- Abstract
An interview with MD and clinical fellow Kelly Dyer in 2024 is presented. When asked on contributing factors to health care disparities in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) care, preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and substance use disorders (SUD), she points to the socio-political situation at people's locations, stigma, and transportation issues. Dyer cites reasons for the higher infectious disease risk among SUD patients. She notes that creating low-barrier care models should be top priority.
