- Abstract
A study published in the International Journal of Dermatology explores the differences in how atopic dermatitis (AD) presents in adults of different racial backgrounds. The study reveals that Black individuals with AD are more likely to have involvement in the neck area, as well as other specific symptoms such as darkening around the eyes and dry skin. They also tend to have a higher prevalence of asthma and an earlier onset and more persistent AD compared to White patients. The study emphasizes the need to consider these racial differences when diagnosing and treating AD to ensure that individuals who do not fit the typical presentation are not overlooked.
