- Abstract
High-quality nanopowder raw materials are a prerequisite for obtaining high-performance nanomaterials. Although the traditional preparation methods of nanopowders (mechanical alloying, chemical coprecipitation, spray drying (SD), etc.) are mature to some extent and widely used, nevertheless, these methods also present many deficiencies. Among these traditional methods, although SD also exhibits some shortcomings, however, the unique advantages of spray technology still make it good prospect for various applications. In recent years, many modified SD methods have been reported. In addition, spray pyrolysis (SP) and spray solution combustion synthesis (SSCS) have also been proposed and gradually developed. After briefly introducing the concept and characteristics of nanopowders, this document reviews (including principles, characteristics, influencing factors, shortcomings, and innovations) three types of typical spray techniques (SD, SP, and SSCS) used for preparation of nanopowders. Moreover, future prospects for further development and application of spray technology for preparation of nanopowders are discussed in detail.
