- Abstract
A literary criticism is presented discussing why dialogue in the theatrical production "A Midsummer Night's Dream," by William Shakespeare, should be spoken by the character of Egeus rather than Philostrate. The author notes that the the Quarto and Folio editions of the play conflict regarding which character was intended to deliver the dialogue. He suggests that Egeus should because is involved in the conflict between the characters of Theseus and Hippolyta in the play.
