- Abstract
This document is a reply to a letter regarding a study on the displacement of the atlantoaxial joint in patients with os odontoideum. The authors respond to the comments made by Fei Ma and co-authors, addressing their concerns about the congenital anomalies in lateral atlantoaxial joints (LAJs) and the correlation between the displacement direction of os odontoideum with atlantoaxial displacement (AAD) and the axial superior facet slope (ASFS). The authors also discuss the potential methods for preventing AAD and preserving atlantoaxial functions in patients without spine syndromes. The document concludes by stating that the study did not receive any funding and the authors have no conflicts of interest.
