- Abstract
The school garden helps to promote healthy eating practices for the whole community, because through the students, parents also get to know vegetables, herbs and medicinal plants that they didn't know about and can possibly incorporate into their diet. The school garden provides the experience of a living laboratory, encompassing various pedagogical practices, providing a playful environment for the teaching-learning process and encouraging cooperation between those involved in it. The aim of this study is to promote the importance of using healthy eating practices, providing technical information that makes it feasible to implement school gardens in available spaces, reusing Styrofoam boxes for their implementation. A literature search was carried out, followed by the assembly of beds with species of vegetables, medicinal herbs and aromatic plants, technical and educational guidance on cultural treatments in gardens, data collection of the knowledge acquired through the application of a questionnaire and its analysis. As a result, it was found that healthier eating habits and environmental awareness were included in the daily lives of the students, teachers and others involved in managing the school garden.
