- Abstract
The textbook is a tool widely used by teachers with the aim of helping and functioning as a guide for pedagogical praxis, besides even guides and even directs the curricular guidelines of the school and the process of teaching learning. The present research aims, not only to analyze the Biology books of the High School of the public school of teaching, but also enunciate the theme of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, using the proposed criteria already established by the scientific community. The methodology used in this research was qualitative with an explanatory approach. We analyzed 02 (two) textbooks of the third year of high school that contained the biotechnology and genetic engineering theme. The analyzed books were considered according to the criteria: weak, regular, good and great. Through the analyzes carried out in the Biology textbooks of the 3rd year of High School, it was observed that there is a certain lack in the contextualization of contents, as well as in the visual resources, even with all the evaluation process of these, after the creation of the National Textbook Plan (PNLD).
