- Abstract
In the last decades, a pressing crisis of the Judiciary has been observed, mainly due to the increasing number of lawsuits filed in the country, especially regarding family law. In view of this situation, reflections are emerging on the appropriate means of conflict, as instruments capable of providing a self-composition for the demands and, consequently, reduce the number of lawsuits. Among these instruments are conciliation and mediation, which have specific methodologies aimed at conflict resolution. In this context, there arises the project of the Conciliation Panel, developed in the Nucleus of Legal Practice, of the Law Course of the UFG/Regional Jataí, aiming at the solution of social and procedural litigations, in a fast, unbureaucratic way, without costs to the interested parties, providing the access to justice to the citizens. Primordially, the research aims to compile and analyze the primary data collected under the project, to identify the effectiveness of the actions in relation to its purposes, comprising a time frame from July 2018 to July 2019. The methodological approach prioritizes qualitative and quantitative research, with data analysis mainly descriptive. The research techniques used were bibliographic and documental, through the use of books, doctrines, articles, legislation, among other printed and electronic materials. It was found that alternative means of conflict resolution are effective instruments in the peaceful resolution of conflicts. The extension project under analysis fulfilled its main purpose, which is to promote conciliation, in a quick, informal and costless way to the interested parties, reducing the number of litigations in the Judiciary. However, the results revealed a small number of cases submitted to the Conciliation Panel, due, primarily, to structural factors, which prevented a larger number of conflicts from being resolved.
