- Abstract
The article presents information about the wholesale grocery trade in the United States. A discussion is presented about the grocery wholesaler's role in the growth of the mercantile life in the United States and changing requirements for food warehouses and other distribution facilities. Details related to the financial and economic aspects of food wholesaling are presented. The differences between retail and institutional food wholesaling are reviewed. The role of the wholesale grocery trade during World War II is mentioned.
